We’re at the start of the school holidays, which means a good few weeks of your little ones being at home. Although it is important to enjoy and make the most of time as a family, we know that it can be tough too – here are some tips for surviving the summer holidays!
Create a Network
It is unlikely that you are the only person wondering how they’ll cope with the holidays – so why not create a network of friends to help. This works well because you can swap days that you take care of child care – gives your children a way to hang out together and also gives you a day off! This means that you can also swap the days and have the children over to your house – giving your friends a day off and helping to ensure your kids are kept entertained.
Set Boundaries
Although the school holidays are supposed to be fun and they no doubt will be it’s important that your kids know what is and isn’t possible. Days out and expensive trips aren’t going to happen every day – and that isokay! Set boundaries whereby they know what behaviour is expected of them when you’re all having a day at home in order to earn a day out!
Remember You Can’t Do It All
Parenting is tough and no one has all of the answers. Just remember that no one is expecting you to be able to do everything and there is no one that is able to juggle it all. Remember that you can’t do it all and that whatever you are doing – your kids are happy, safe and healthy and that is really all is important.
