3 Things To Do This January

January can be a lovely time of year for feeling motivated and ready for a fresh start, but it can also be overwhelming and hard to get back into the swing of things after Christmas and the change of routine this can bring. Here are some things to do this January that might help!

Get Outside

January is generally the first month where it starts to feel really cold and although the evenings are drawing out, it still can feel pretty dark and miserable. As such, it can be tempting to want to just stay inside, hibernate and wait for better weather. However, realistically this isn’t going to help you in terms of doing things that can make you feel good. Try to get outside every day, even if it is only for 10 minutes or so and a quick stroll around the block – the fresh air and movement will help you feel good, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time.

Go Easy On Yourself

January is a month of expectation – social media is full of diet posts, magazines are full of messages about what we should be changing and even our inboxes are full of emails about the new habits we should be taking up. January can be a great time of year for starting to feel motivated but don’t let these constant messages bring you down. Make changes if you wish but also know that you’re brilliant and valid as you are, so there is no need to feel pressured to make changes if you don’t want to!

Plan The Rest of The Year

Although you can’t possibly plan out the next 365 days, what’s the harm in talking through plans and giving yourself something to look forward to? A weekend away in the Spring or some extravagant birthday dinner plans? Even things that aren’t set in stone can be really fun and exciting to talk about, in what can be a pretty dull month otherwise.
