Keep Your Home Warm This Winter

You might have heard that people are saying that this January is pretty mild, but if you’re sitting in your living room feeling the cold then that might be something that you’re finding hard to believe. Whether or not January is mild, there is no denying that it will be colder than lots of other months throughout the year, so here are some tips on how to keep your home warm this winter.

Get Rid of Any Draughts

It doesn’t matter how much effort you put in to keep your home warm this winter, if you have draughts in your house then you’re wasting your time. Go around your house and try and eliminate any draughts as much as possible – this could be gaps under doors and around your windows. Keeping curtains closed and investing in draught excluders can help, but if you don’t have the funds for these then any material, old duvets etc that you can put in their place will help.

Think Cosy and Comfortable

Being cosy and comfortable is a must at this time of year, so make sure you have plenty of blankets and cosy things around you, especially when settling down for the evening. You might not want to be sat in a big, bulky jumper but a blanket, some fluffy socks and a nice hot drink can make just as much difference. Even bringing your duvet downstairs if you don’t have a blanket is a good idea when it comes to being warm.

Be Sensible with Heating

We all know that the cost of heating is on the rise, so you might be worried about putting the heating on and how much this is going to cost. Rather than not putting the heating on at all, try to do what you can to make your heating as effective as possible. Switch off radiators in rooms you’re not using, and keeping internal doors closed so you’re just heating the rooms you’re in rather than hallways and wasted space helps to get your rooms warmer much quicker and they’ll stay warmer for longer too!
