Places To Visit For a Winter Staycation

We’ve well and truly said goodbye to summer and with the clocks due to go back any day now, with it is the hope of any more warm days! However, that doesn’t mean that you should give up on the hope of having a holiday; instead, you might want to swap the beach for something a little warmer. Here are some winter staycation ideas for places to visit in the UK.

City Breaks

City breaks are a good idea all year round, mostly because they have a little something to do for everyone. Although probably on a smaller scale this year, places like Manchester and Birmingham are great to visit if a wander around the Christmas market sounds like your thing. However, if your city break adventures are likely to be more indoors then cities generally offer a range of museums, parks, restaurants, galleries and theatres – so there really is something to do for everyone.

Glamping

Although pitching up a tent and sleeping in the middle of a forest might not be your idea of a great winter activity that doesn’t mean you should avoid the idea of camping altogether. Glamping is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors – but still, have somewhere warm and dry to spend your time. Glamping pods, wood cabins and even hiring a caravan are great ways to make that happen – and the places you can visit are endless!

The Beach

Although we suggested swapping the beach for somewhere warmer if you fancy some fresh air and a quiet walk with brisk breezes then the beach is wonderful this time of year. Tourist attractions, amusements and even restaurants are likely to be much quieter too – so you can experience everything without the crowds.

Are you braving a winter staycation this year? Make sure you check out your car and do all the vehicle maintenance you can if you’re playing to roadtrip at the same time. We’d love to know where you’re off to!
